Keeping up to date with breaking news while you're on the move is simple with the ITN News SMS alerts service.
Using the online registration to subscribe to receive the alerts service(s), you'll be sent breaking news and information about your topic(s) of choice as soon as it happens.
Each message you receive will cost 15p for fixed category topics (Quirky Alerts / Sports News /Showbiz News / World News / UK News / Headline News / Business News) and 25p for bespoke keyword topics.
Fixed Category Text alerts (Quirky Alerts / Sports News /Showbiz News / World News / UK News / Headline News / Business News) are sent between 0700 and 2200.
We estimate that you will receive between 20 and 30 messages per month from each category you are subscribed to, depending on events.
All phones on UK networks which can send and receive SMS texts should be able to use the service.
Note that each SMS message sent to ITN for this service will cost 10-12p, depending on your network provider.
ITN may contact you in the future for your opinions and views on this service. Participation in any user research is at your discretion and you do not have to take part.
Go to our website http://itn.winint.net/ and select the category of alerts you want by clicking available tabs across the page (Quirky Alerts / Sports News /Showbiz News / World News / UK News / Headline News / Business News). You may also request your own topic by typing in keywords into the space provided.
You will be prompted to type in your mobile number into the space provided. You will then receive a free text message to your handset. To confirm your subscription you will need to reply to the text message with the word OK. You are now subscribed to the service.

You will be prompted to put in the mobile number that is receiving the messages, and for security you will be sent a free text message to this number containing a PIN that you then type into the website in the space available. You are then presented with a page that lists the service(s) you are subscribed to. You then have the option to STOP receiving messages from the category or simply to freeze the alerts for 7 days.
You can also stop the subscription by replying to a message with the word STOP. For fixed category alerts (Quirky Alerts / Sports News /Showbiz News / World News / UK News / Headline News / Business News) send the word STOP to 62222. For your own keyword alerts send STOP to 82222. You will receive a free text message confirming that you have been unsubscribed.
This will depend on what's happening in the news - but on average you will receive between 20 and 30 messages a month.
A Free reminder message will be sent to your phone each month, or when you have spent £20.
The mobile phone network will hold messages for a defined period and keep trying to send them. Depending on the network, this could be 24 hours or longer. Please check with your network for more details of their procedures.
